April Playlist 2020
A lot of great music was released this month, so my April Playlist is pretty jam-packed: Charli XCX, Fiona Apple, Rina Sawayama, some great remixes, and a smattering of random great tracks. Quarantine has got me listening to a lot more music these days; I don’t know why I feel so compelled to start writing and sharing it, but here we are. Friday night 100 Gecs‘ hosted Square Garden, a music festival within the video game Minecraft. The festival combined some of the best names in hyperpop or whatever you want to call this genre: Charli XCX, Fraxiom, Gupi, KKB, Umru and AG Cook. Truly an incredible 3 hours of music. My favorite sets from youtube below.

Charli XCX released Claws today, earlier than originally expected. She teased the second verse of this banger 1 or 2 weeks ago along with a few other demos and ideas. The fans pushed her to release this track and helped with the name. Other names that had been under consideration were “Clementine” (which Troye Sivan preferred) and “Everything About You”

Charli XCX – Forever
New Track! The Angels are getting fed this month. Announcement of new album happened on Monday and here we are with a new track already, featuring 3 unique album art covers.
The sound of the track is a great representation of everything Charli has been doing with her music lately: more personal, the lush auto-tuned vocal cascades of Warm and the fuzzed out noise of Click. This juxtaposition shows up a lot on the self-titled Charli. I live for it. Seems like AG Cook and Dylan Brady likely worked on this one. Check out all the album art below.
Charli XCX – How I’m Feeling Now
On April 6, 2020 Charli XCX held a Zoom conference to make an announcement after blacking out her social media. On May 15th, she’ll release an album, currently under the working title “How I’m Feeling Now.”
